About the event
Decentering through Butoh
A day-long workshop with Lani Weissbach
The avant-garde dance form known as butoh is a unique somatic movement practice that emphasizes the body/self that becomes. This act of becoming can also be experienced as an act of decentering, which is a radical paradigm shift in how we can experience ourselves in an interconnected web of life. In this workshop, we will explore a variety of practices that aim to both literally and metaphorically decenter us, and we will investigate the value of this method in a variety of applications. People of all levels of experience are invited to attend and no prior training in any movement form is required.
