Butoh workshop: decentering the human

Updated: Sep 25, 2023

Join me for a delicious day of butoh-based somatic practices, either online or in person, through the Eastwest Somatics Institute. This full day workshop is open to the public as well as Eastwest certification students and will be offered both in person at Link Movement Arts in Elmira, New York and online on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 10-5 p.m.

In this workshop, we will explore the concept of decentering through a variety of lenses and learn how the power of decentering can:

  • Open us to new and refreshing ways of being and moving in our own bodies

  • Provide a portal to moving beyond the ego and understanding ourselves as part of a larger, interconnected web of life

Enjoy this deep and nourishing day of movement exploration for every body that is a unique opportunity to:

  • Slow down and do less to release tension and stress and build sensitivity

  • Strengthen and empower the connection of our bodies to the earth through dynamic, integrated and grounding movement

  • Learn ways to be moved by imagery and the environment to deepen our sense of interconnectedness and inherent wholeness

  • Witness and support ourselves and others with compassion and care in the process of growing and learning through the body

  • Gain insight into the value of such practices to access our natural states of ease, joyfulness and peace in our daily lives
